5:00 a.m.,while writing in the dark, I heard a little noise. A quiet "plunk" came from the windowsill where the house plants live.
Was it a mouse? A bird knocking on the window glass from the outside?
After looking for the culprit, I discovered my fig tree, which I've had for three years and have rescued at least a half dozen times from shriveled leaves and empty stalk, birthed her very first edible fig!
I praised her: "You did it!"
The fig was plump, and sweet, perfect and delicious.
What a way to begin the day~
